This stumpwork iris may be taking longer than anticipated, but this weekend has been a good one for hand embroidery, anyway. Color after color has been stitched into the petal, and the long and short stitch is a perfect choice for showcasing the rich tones.
Progress is slow on a big piece of stumpwork embroidery, and there are several unique problems to work through or avoid. Stitching without knots and with both sides of the work pristine makes for slow, careful going.
