Hand Embroidered Throw Blanket, Afghan in Mosaic
This afghan is hand embroidered with an intricate pattern in a traditional style. This style of work, called huck embroidery or Swedish weaving, leaves little to be seen on the back - just occasional glimpses of color where the threads of the cloth separate. It measures approximately 30 by 50 inches, though a larger size in this pattern is available here: www.etsy.com/listing/250858529/hand-embroidered-throw-blanket-light
This sofa throw is made out of white monk's cloth, which is a thick, 100% cotton cloth with great texture. The embroidery is done with four colors of Peruvian wool, ranging from a light lake blue, through denim, ocean blue, and a midnight blue. All the colors are heathered (containing filaments of other, harmonizing colors within the yarn itself) for a rich depth of color. Creamy, unbleached monk's cloth is also available.
This size throw makes a beautiful heirloom baby blanket. Just select the 'lined' option before you put it in your chart and we'll back it with a soft minky fabric that will delight baby. Minky is a non-pilling, incredibly soft polyester fabric that is often made into warm, soft baby goods. This blanket has been pre-washed to shrink the cotton and tighten the weave. To keep the wool stitching clearly defined, please hand wash with a mild detergent, and lay flat or line dry.
