Large Hand Embroidered Sofa Throw Blanket, Afghan in Mosaic
This afghan is hand embroidered with an intricate pattern in a traditional style. This style of work, called huck embroidery or Swedish weaving, leaves little to be seen on the back - just occasional glimpses of color where the threads of the cloth separate. It measures approximately 50 by 62 inches, though we do carry a smaller (30x50) size, perfect for baby blankets: https://www.broideriestitch.com/collections/embroidered-blankets/products/hand-embroidered-throw-blanket-light-sofa-throw-swedish-weaving-afghan-monks-cloth-afghan-huck-embroidery-baby-blanket-blue-couch-throw
This sofa throw is made out of creamy, unbleached monk's cloth, which is a thick, 100% cotton cloth. The embroidery is done with four colors of Peruvian wool, ranging from gold through apple green, teal, and a deep blue. We carry a beautiful selection of rich wool yarns, both plain and heathered (containing filaments of other, harmonizing colors within the yarn itself) for a rich depth of color. White monk's cloth is also available.
For an even more luxurious throw, just select the 'backed' option before you put it in your chart and we'll back your blanket with a beautifully soft minky fabric to match the monk's cloth. Minky is a non-pilling, incredibly soft polyester fabric that is often made into warm, cuddly baby goods. A backed blanket is painstakingly quilted between the threads of the monk's cloth so as to not interfere with the embroidery and the edges are bound by hand in a coordinating color.
