Collection: Huck Towels

Huck embroidery is a form of pattern darning that originated in Europe in the 1600's. The pattern is carefully darned into the surface of the cloth, and with traditional huck toweling not a stitch is seen on the back. These towels are beautiful and sturdy 100% cotton. We source most of our patterns from vintage American linens from the '30's and 40's, when huck embroidery enjoyed a surge in popularity. Since not a stitch or knot shows on the back, it was a very economical way to add a touch of color during the Great Depression.
